The SuRIA Home rebate opens for claims today, 1 June 2026, giving eligible Malaysian homeowners up to RM3,000 in cash for installing rooftop solar under the Solar ATAP scheme. The rebate is given on a first-come, first-served basis, so households planning to go solar this year are encouraged to act early.
Under the scheme, domestic electricity users receive RM600 for every 1 kWac of declared installed capacity, capped at a maximum of RM3,000. That means a system of around 5 kWac qualifies for the full RM3,000, while smaller systems receive a proportionate amount. According to The Sun, implementation begins on 1 June 2026, with one claim allowed per eligible individual.
How the rebate is paid
The SuRIA Home rebate is administered and paid by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). After a qualifying Solar ATAP system is commissioned and verified, TNB pays the rebate directly into the registered customer's own local bank account, typically within seven working days of verification. SuRIA Home installs your system and guides you through the process — it does not pay or claim the rebate on your behalf.
Who can claim
The rebate is open to Malaysian citizens who are individual TNB customers on the Domestic Tariff (not companies), whose Solar ATAP system is commissioned with TNB by 31 December 2026, and who have not previously received a cash rebate under the SolaRIS programme. Only one rebate is allowed per customer. The wider rollout, backed by a RM150 million allocation, is expected to benefit tens of thousands of homes, as reported by The Edge Malaysia.
Why timing matters
Because the rebate runs on a first-come, first-served basis until 31 December 2026 or until the RM150 million allocation is fully used up — whichever comes first — there is no guarantee that funds will remain available right up to the closing date. The original launch was announced by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), as covered by Bernama. Homeowners who want a realistic chance of securing the rebate should begin the assessment and installation process as soon as practical.
